The prize awarded was a Brother Sewing Machine - NV200 - Quilters Edition
This is an award for the quiltmaker who embraced the challenge of "Daring to be Different".
We selected an art quilt that changes and explores the limits of what it means to create a quilt. It is both visually exciting, innovative in style and technique and also stitched with empathy for the materials chosen.
The winner was Lynette Brown for her quilt "Shattered - Garden Window"
An analogy of youth and age, this quilt was inspired by the idea of a shattered window. Looking through it the garden appears in small fragments, distorted and disorientated. The picture although fractures is now richer and even more interesting than the view through the clear pane.
Lynette is from South Australia.
